Delvebound 5.5: Mage Subclasses

Devoting their lives to the study and practice of the arcane arts, Mages develop the knowledge and discipline needed to channel the supernatural power that flows from Magnus. Specialists at their core, they pursue mastery through relentless inquiry, refining their understanding of magicka into a focused expertise over the hidden laws that govern the world.
Years of training, experimentation, and careful study defines the path of a Mage, often undertaken at one of the many places of higher magical learning, such as the College of Winterhold, Shad Astula, University of Gwylim. Through their academic magical studies, a Mage learns to command elemental fury, call forth beings from distant realms, or even restore that which has been broken.
A Mage subclass is a specialization that grants features at certain Mage levels, as specified in the subclass. This section presents the Conjurer, Elementalist, and Restorer subclasses.
Although we aren't showing the base class and only fixating on the subclasses, there are some changes happening to the Mage, to better align with the 5.5 rules. We are changing the Mage so that it is a one-to-one replica of the Wizard, which unfortunately means goodbye to the metamagic mage. I am sad to lose out on the fun this feature gave to the Mage gameplay, with my favorite being a Twinned Spell Restoration Mage, but I'm happy to see the Mage get the balance improvement of following the tried and true Wizard.
In addition to the subclasses shown here, a Mage can also specialize in the Wizard subclasses shown in the 5.5e Core Rules. The Abjurer works as an Alterationist, the Diviner as a Mystic, the Evoker can represent the School of Destruction, and the Illusionist fits with an illusionist of Tamriel.
Tell us what you thnk about the updated subclasses in the comments or join the conversation in Discord!
