Monster of the Month: Trove Scamp

Traveling in the sewers beneath the Imperial City, you've been sent by the Elder Council to investigate strange noises and occurrences reported by several servants. Just up ahead, you hear a strange bestial snickering. As you turn the corner of the dank, moldering walkway, you see it. Daedra. But this is no problem for you. A single scamp dances in the muck. You and your allies—accomplished and recognized heroes of Cyrodiil—charge ahead.


Just as you do, the scamp begins to make a horrifying sound. A screech, amplified by the circular stone walls, which echo throughout the sprawling tunnels. The wailing fiend dashes away from you, leaving behind a sporadic trail of shimmering bread crumbs. Septims. Tiny gemstones. All leading you down the twisting path.


Chasing closely, tossing fire bolts and arrows at every chance you can take, the scamp narrowly dodges and swerves your assault as it navigates the tangled gutters and trenches. Is that a potion you see peaking out the scamps pack? Each turn you take, the scamp is a full stride ahead of you, ducking into the next intersecting path. Hastily trudging through the waste of the nobles above, you finally see your chance. The scamp has made an error in judgement and finds itself face to face with a stone wall.


You know this will be quick. You are already imagining the praise of the council as you and your allies prepare for the slaughter ahead.


"Welcome, morsel. Our Prince has been awaiting your sacrifice." a diabolical voice calls out. From the corners of the room, you see two Dremora dressed in robes, each with their long fingers reaching out, as the smell of brimstone and the flicker of fire forms between them. Bait. You've fallen for it. And you seem to have happened upon some nefarious ritual. Daedric markings line the floors and walls, with a runic symbol glowing on the ceiling. Could this be beneath the Ruby Throne? What more lies within the scamps bags? There's no time to worry about that now. As the Dremora close in, spells in hand, an azure burst of magicka forms before the scamp, as a rift sunders the mortal plane. Will you stop the scamp and get its treasure before it leaves Nirn behind? What secrets will you uncover from the daedric plot? Will you survive the Dremora's ambush?
