Exotic Race: The Dwemer


The ingenious elves of the deep, known as as the dwemer, are an ancient lost race of mer whose mysterious disappearance is hotly debated with endless rumors and speculation. Ages ago, these deep elves had access to technology and engineering that is still considered to be far advanced than any other civilization. To this day, the mysteries of their science remains a secret the other denizens of Tamriel.

DWEMER NAMES

The Dwemer have single given names, but on occasion have family names.

Male Names. Anchard, Brazefk, Bthuand, Cuolec, Dahrk, Dalen-Zanchu, Dumac, Gharen, Jnaggo, Klathzgar, Mithas, Mzulchond, Nchunak, Neveith, Razak, Radac, Sthovin, Yagrum.

Female Names. Bluthan, Kamdida, Uurthehnchenthyalft.

Family Names. Bagarn, Mezalf, Mzahnch, Stungnthumz

DWEMER TRAITS

Your Dwemer character has a variety of natural abilities common with all other Dwemer.

Attribute Score Increase. Your Intellect score increases by 2, and you Willpower score scores increase by 1.

Age. As with all elves, Dwemer are long lived, maturing at the same rate as humans, but live for hundreds of years pm average, but are able to live for thousands.

Size. Deep Elves have average builds, and their height is between 5 and 6 feet tall. Your size is medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30.

Darkvision. Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if you were in bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Artificer's Lore. Whenever you make an Intelligence (History) check related to magic items, alchemical objects, or technological devices, you can add twice your proficiency bonus, instead of any proficiency bonus you normally apply.

The Calling. You can communicate telepathically across great distances with other dwemer. You can only send and receive messages from dwemer that you have met, and only if they are on the same plane of existence as you. The messages can only be short, one sentence thoughts.

Once you have sent or received a message in this way, you can't send or receive another one until you finish a long rest.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Tamrielic and Dwemeris.

Tinkerer. You have proficiency with artisan's tools (tinker's tools). Using those tools, you can spend 1 hour and 40 septims worth of materials to construct a Tiny clockwork device (AC 5, 1 hp). The device ceases to function after 24 hours (unless you spend 1 hour repairing it to keep the device functioning), or when you use your action to dismantle it; at that time, you can reclaim the materials used to create it. You can have up to three such devices active at a time.

When you create a device, choose one of the following options:

Clockwork Toy. This toy is a clockwork animal, monster, or person, such as a guar, skeever, bird, dragon, or soldier. When placed on the ground, the toy moves 5 feet across the ground on each of your turns in a random direction. It makes noises as appropriate to the creature it represents.

Fire Starter. The device produces a miniature flame, which you can use to light a candle, torch, or campfire. Using the device requires your action.

Music Box. When opened, this music box plays a single song at a moderate volume. The box stops playing when it reaches the song’s end or when it is closed.
